IAAPA 2017: Alterface launches new Wander system

Belgian interactive and media-based attraction design firm Alterface has launched Wander, a scalable, interactive solution, designed to give visitors a ‘truly personalised’ experience.

Billed as an interactive solution for on-location entertainment, the Wander system tracks visitors’ movements via an infrared device. On entry to the park guests are assigned a wand with its own unique signal. Guests can then scan their wands at central distribution points, which then assigns an activity or ride, based on the length of the queue, the guest’s activity history and the activity type.

Wander also gives users personalised tasks, sending them to various different points across the park to complete their missions. The location the visitor is sent to is dependent on its capacity, the visitor’s chosen story and their previous experience.

Wander is powered by Alterface’s interactive management software, Salto, a flexible system that is designed to adapt to any venue, regardless of size, and offers a number of gameplay possibilities.

Benoit Cornet, founder and CEO of Alterface, says: “We have put our interactivity expertise together with today’s market needs to come up with a range of solutions for creating (dark) rides which are less predictable than today’s linear experiences. Our new Wander solution offers visitors a new and unique experience every time.”

Cornet adds: “Wander will turn visitors into scavenger hunters, crossing the park in search of clues, challenges, rewards or surprises. It requires more complex technology and careful planning but guarantees so much more fun for the visitors. This approach ensures a real differentiator for parks and will move them to the next level.”
